ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This statement was last updated on 5/15/2025.

At Mariposa Healing Alliance, we are deeply committed to ensuring that our services, programs, and digital spaces are accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. We believe that healing, empowerment, and community support should be available to all, regardless of ability or access needs.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Our Commitment

We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment both online and in person. This includes taking meaningful steps to ensure our website is accessible and usable for people with diverse abilities.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines and have made the site accessible to the level of AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, we have also:

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing journey. We continuously review and improve our digital content and welcome feedback to help us identify and address any barriers.

Declaration of partial compliance with the standard due to third-party content

While we strive to ensure accessibility of our website, some third-party content or features (such as embedded videos or external links) may not be fully accessible. We are actively working to collaborate with vendors and providers who prioritize accessibility.

Accessibility arrangements in the organization

Physical Office Accessibility Arrangements

At Mariposa Healing Alliance, we are committed to making our physical spaces accessible and welcoming to all individuals, including those with disabilities. Below is a description of the current accessibility arrangements in place at our office location.

Location & Transportation

  • Public Transportation: Our office is conveniently located near [Ninth St/Congress St Light Rail Station], with accessible public transportation options available. The nearest accessible bus stop is a short distance away from the building entrance.

Building Entrance & Access

  • Main Entrance: Our main entrance has one step at the front door, which may pose a barrier to individuals using wheelchairs or certain mobility devices. At present, we do not have a permanent ramp, and we acknowledge that this does not fully meet ADA accessibility standards. We are actively exploring solutions to improve physical access, including the installation of a portable ramp and longer-term accessibility enhancements.
In the meantime, please contact us in advance if you require assistance entering the office. Our staff is more than happy to provide support and ensure safe entry.

  • Pathways: Once inside, all main pathways leading to the office are level, free of obstacles, and designed to accommodate wheelchairs, mobility devices, and strollers.

Additional Accessibility Features

  • Seating: Waiting areas include accessible seating options with appropriate height and space considerations.

  • Sensory Considerations: We strive to maintain a calm and sensory-friendly environment. Quiet spaces are available upon request for clients who may benefit from reduced stimuli.

  • Assistance Devices: Service animals are welcome. Staff are also available to provide assistance with navigating the space if needed.

  • Communication Accessibility: For clients with hearing impairments, we can arrange for sign language interpretation services with advance notice.
