Our Work

At Mariposa Healing Alliance, our work is deeply rooted in lived experience, global perspective, and a relentless commitment to justice. From volunteering in Dominican Republic orphanages to international advocacy in Portugal, Tanzania, and Washington D.C., we blend clinical expertise with hands-on community action to uplift and empower those most often left behind.

Global Community Work: Dominican Republic

Fundación Red de Misericordia (Orphanage Support & Infant Care)
At Fundación Red de Misericordia, we organized toy, food, and clothing drives to support children in need. Recognizing the shortage of staff, we also provided hands-on care—holding and soothing babies who would otherwise receive little individual attention. This direct human connection reflects our belief that healing begins with presence, compassion, and dignity.

Hogar Infantil Visitación de Jesús (Special Needs Orphanage)
We led community drives to bring toys, food, and clothing to Hogar Infantil Visitación de Jesús, an orphanage for children with special needs. Our involvement focused on fostering inclusion and providing essential resources to uplift these vulnerable children.

APA Delegate for Tanzania, Africa

In 2024, I participated in APA’s International Learning Partner Program, visiting agencies and organizations in Tanzania to exchange knowledge on trauma, mental health, and substance abuse care. This experience deepened my global perspective on community-based healing and cross-cultural collaboration.

Immigrant Rights Advocacy

I joined advocates from across the country in Washington D.C. to fight for immigrant rights, participating in over 60 legislative visits to meet with congressional lawmakers and share community stories. The trip culminated in a powerful rally, raising our collective voice for humane immigration policies and justice for all.

Suicide Prevention & Policy Workshops

In partnership with the Latino Action Network Foundation, we provided suicide prevention training to women’s resource centers across New Jersey. Our work focused on helping organizations develop effective mental health policies, train staff to recognize suicide risk and warning signs, and respond with culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care. Together, we aim to create safer, more supportive environments for vulnerable women and families.
